Sammy Lawson is a St. Louis native who began his color guard journey in 2014, marching a total of five seasons with Lafayette High School. After high school, Sammy was a member of Music City Drum and Bugle Corps for 2 seasons, spending 2018 marching the color guard and 2019 marching euphonium. Sammy has spun with La Voûte Performance Ensemble as an understudy and a full cast member over the past two years. He continues to serve as the director for the Cape Central Tiger Band in Cape Girardeau, Missouri (2019-2021). Sammy is currently working on a B.S. in Education (Highschool) with a minor in dance and music at Southeast Missouri State University, and he is an alumni of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. At SEMO, Sammy supplements his dance training with classes in classical ballet, modern, improvisation, and various partnering styles. He’s performed with Ballet 314 in their production of Ragtime (2021) and in a variety of dance pieces and concerts at SEMO, including Sonder (2020), Choreography by Fernando Bujones (2021), The Nutcracker Pas de Deux (2021) and By My Side (2021). Sammy is incredibly excited to continue his guard training in his third year with the ensemble.
