Lindsay Hawkins, M.F.A.
Lindsay Hawkins, originally from Columbus, Indiana, is an artist, educator and choreographer. She is an Instructor of Dance at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, and was previously an Assistant Professor of Dance and Director of the dance program at Rockford University in Illinois for three years. She has held adjunct faculty appointments at many universities in St. Louis including Lindenwood, Wash U, SLU, and Webster University. Prior to her university teaching career, Lindsay was a company member, rehearsal director and choreographer with MADCO (Modern American Dance Co, St. Louis, MO) who has performed more than fifteen of her works in their repertory. Lindsay has set commissioned work on universities and dance companies throughout the Midwest including Leverage Dance Theater, CoMoDance, MADCO and MADCO2, the Lindenwood Dance Program, Wash U Dance Collective, and the University of Kansas. She has also taught and choreographed works for dance students at St. Louis’s Grand Center Arts Academy, Notre Dame University, Missouri State University, University of Missouri St. Louis, and Johns Hopkins University. She has collaborated with the Arianna String Quartet, Double Date a Capella Quartet, the UMSL Percussion Ensemble and Music Department, as well as photographers, vocalists, and visual artists. Lindsay earned her MFA from the University of Arizona and her BFA from Southern Methodist University.
